In November 2006, Azinger was named 2008 Ryder Cup chief, to be held at the Valhalla Golf Club, Louisville, Kentucky, Sept. 16– 21, 2008. The Ryder Cup pits America versus Europe in a group rivalry. Azinger said he was “awestruck” by the respect.
